History Behind the CEU Policy Change

July 20, 2010 at 4:28 pm 7 comments

Out of the March Board retreat came ideas for visioning and goal setting as well the need for capacity building at the Board level. Capacity building is a concept that looks at what structures need to be in place in order to have an organization functioning optimally. From this concept the Board is updating the bylaws and any policies that are dated or need revising. The CEU policy is one such item. I have provided a link here to the RPA website for more information on this history and how, as a Not For Profit and Tax Free Association, we are not able to require practitioners to attend Resonance Repatterning courses to meet their CEU requirement. As of July 7th, the RPA Board recommends certified practitioners keep current with their Repatterning skills by taking courses offered from the Institute but it is not required to take classes for recertification.

It is a relief to me as well that these requirements have been eased.

It seems to me that we are in a different situation than when we all started out some fifteen years ago. I believe that one factor that is challenging to quantify is the change that is wrought within the practitioners themselves as they continue to do the work on themselves and others. When we started, I don’t think we really knew what kind of human potential we could realize by doing this work over an extended period of time.

I certainly feel like a different person now than I did when I started. And certainly some of this is just due to age and increasing life experience. But I believe that some of it is also due to the repatterning work I have experienced. Other people in my age bracket are not necessarily in the same spiritual, mental, emotional framework that I am.

So I am wondering if there is some way that this could be evaluated. I am not suggesting that we do not need to continue our studies; indeed, I think continuing to learn is essential to our continuing growth and evolution. But I am wondering if some sort of written submission might be made for the purpose of CEU credit, when it is not possible for whatever reasons, to actually do the CEU as coursework in the specified time frame.

I hope that the Board will give this idea some consideration.

A new policy regarding CEU’s was announced last July and will hopefully make this requirement easier for everyone.  Take a look: http://rpamembers.wordpress.com/2010/07/20/new-policy-change-in-ceus/  AND http://rpamembers.wordpress.com/2010/07/20/history-behind-the-ceu-policy-change/ [...]

I appreciate very much that you have changed the CEU Policy. There are several allied modality classes I’d like to take but wondered how to both RR and those classes.
Thank you for all the time and effort you have put into making every thing run smoothly.
    Gentle care to you,

The line “as a Not For Profit and Tax Free Association, we are not able to require practitioners to attend Resonance Repatterning courses to meet their CEU requirement.” has caught my eye.

On the one hand, I, too, am relieved, as time, finances, & availability limit the RR classes I can attend – regardless of me wanting to get to them.

This leads to another conundrum, though: what other classes can I take?

The list at http://www.hramembers.org/BoardRoom/Policies/certrenewal.htm is lovely; however, I’m still in the same boat with those.

Another organization I’m in has recognized that after taking a certain number of classes, the folks probably are getting it ok, and they allow for different criteria for the ‘old timers.’ so whereas I originally had to update every other year, I now only need to update every five years.

any thoughts on doing something like this?

The Board considered changing the certification timeframes in the last few years. At this point, we are not changing the certification time frame and will keep it to 32 CEU’s per 2 years. Maybe this can be re-evaluated in the future.

    Hi Karen,
Thank you for this posting and for letting us and me personally know of this change to policy.
My first response is a sigh of relief. I have to admit that I have often wondered if I would lose my certified status because of difficulty traveling to courses required in the past. I am very pleased to know that all my hard work to become a practitioner of good standing is no longer jeopardized due to, and often, circumstances beyond my control.
I congratulate the board for their far-sightedness, and for the time and effort to maintain integrity with its membership.

I would like to know if with this policy change there will be other recommendations other than Resonance Repatterning courses that the Board will consider suggesting to its members? Given the great source of wealth of information and diversity of our Repatterning community members I suspect there is a plethora of suggestions available.
    Thank you.

Thanks Zumi~ Check out the Allied Modality policy information and you’ll see courses already approved that are not taught as complete courses in the RR system. Any practitioner seeking allied modality approval must consider that modality supports and enhances RR. It doesn’t replace it. For instance, Yuen Method is not allowed as it runs in a similiar vein with RR.

      I hope this helps!
